Presidential Search Committee Update – April 3, 2017

Colleagues,

I am pleased to inform you that Acadia’s Board of Governors has chosen Dr. Peter J. Ricketts as Acadia’s 16th President and Vice-Chancellor, succeeding Ray Ivany who will retire on June 30. Peter will begin his six-year term in July 2017.

We will be issuing a news release shortly so I ask that you hold this information in confidence within the Acadia community until it has been announced publicly. This release will be posted to Acadia’s website, social media channels and distributed to news organizations and a copy of it is included below.

Presidential Search Committee Update – February 27, 2017

This is our first update of 2017 and we hope the new year and the term are progressing well.

Since our last update, the bulk of our work has taken place.  Let me give you some sense of what has been going on.  Our search partners, Knightsbridge Robertson Surrette, have been in the market having conversations with a wide-ranging group of potential candidates.  In total, they have been in touch with over 210 potential candidates and sources for referrals.  From this broad pool, we had 64 firm applicants for the Presidency, all of whom were screened and interviewed by KBRS, and a list of the 10 most qualified candidates were presented to the Committee.  The total pool of applicants was reviewed by the Committee and we agreed that KBRS completed a thorough and comprehensive search for possible candidates.

Presidential Search Committee Update – December 22, 2016

Since our last update in November, we have been like a duck swimming across a lake. Not much to see above the water, but lots going on underneath. Specifically, our search partners (Knightsbridge Robertson Surette, [KBRS]) have been actively speaking with potential candidates across Canada and beyond.
